Why you need a Staycation Guide
If you were on vacation year-round, would it really be a vacation? That’s what the staycation mindset is all about. And why you need a Staycation Guide. If you maintain some aspects of vacation life year-round, then it makes the ups and downs of everyday life a bit more manageable. Here are some Piece of Mind Picks in your Staycation Guide to get you started:
In the bedroom:
Brooklinen Sheets
The Brooklinen classic percale sheets are what you’ll find at the Piece of Mind Retreat. High quality sheets that get softer every time you wash them. If you think sheets are no big deal, I encourage you to try these. They manage to feel both smooth and crisp at the same time – worth a try.
In the bathroom:
Stream2Sea
Truly reef-safe skin- and hair-care products are difficult to find. Choosing Stream2Sea makes it easy. Our water supply is fully interconnected, so it is hugely important to use reef-safe products no matter how near or far you are to the prime snorkeling off the Kona coast.

In the kitchen:
Chef’s Vision Knives
Beautiful and effective -what more can you ask for in a set of knives? You’ll find the landscape set at the Piece of Mind Retreat, but for your home you can choose the wildlife or cosmos versions if you prefer. The next loaf of bread you slice, or onion you dice will be a mini-escape.
Y-Peeler
This is not your mother’s vegetable peeler. If you are still using the peeler that you bought for your first apartment – first, realize that it is NOT sharp still. And second, consider a Y-style of handle for an amazing amount of control. These peelers do eventually need to be replaced, but they tend to last much longer than other brands I’ve tried.
Clip-On Strainer
Pasta is an easy way to get dinner on the table – both at home and away. If you haven’t used this simple tool, you are missing out. It clips on the edge of any pot and allows you to drain it without needing a separate strainer. If you have a recipe that calls for reserved cooking water, then this attachment makes it easy to pour some into a small container before draining the pasta (or vegetable) fully.
Microplane
Whether you are grating parmesan over that pasta, garlic for some garlic bread, or chocolate shaving over your dessert, a Microplane is an essential tool to make fine shreds of typically tough-to-shred foods.

Instant Pot
More easy meals come from your Instant Pot – without heating up the kitchen. My go to is tacos – chicken, pork, beef – whatever you prefer, layered with salsa and cooked under pressure. But you can boil eggs, cook rice, or make dozens of other meal staples in significantly less time.
Tortilla Warmer
Yes, I know you haven’t thought about making your own tortillas – but you really should. They stand head and shoulders above any store-bought tortillas, and only require a few ingredients, and basic tools. But once you’ve made them, you’ll want them to stay toasty warm and this tortilla warmer is the answer (bonus: also use it to reheat any leftovers in a few seconds).
On the grill:

Grill Pizza Pans
If you haven’t grilled a pizza before – here is why you should consider it. You can get high temperatures – which means a crisp crust- without overheating your kitchen or blowing out your oven. These pans make a great size for a hearty meal – or sharing as a snack. The recommended temperature is 425, and the pans do need to be hand washed, but with a little patience – a quick brush of olive oil – you’ll get a crisp crust with an easy clean up.
